Overview
Spikerz lets you export your data as an Excel file (.xlsx), so you can keep records for compliance and audits, share results with your team, or analyze moderation activity in your own tools.
Every Export button opens the same window, Export data to Excel. Each page exports only its own data: the comments cleaner exports comment moderation, chat moderation exports live chat moderation, and so on.
This guide explains where to find each export, how to run one, what the file contains, and how it is delivered.
Where to Find Export
You can export data from these pages:
Comments cleaner > Settings - the moderation actions taken on your comments.
Chat moderation > Settings - the moderation actions taken on your live chat messages.
DM protection > Settings - the moderation actions taken on your direct messages.
Activity log - the activity log entries for the accounts and dates you select.
Asset permissions - the permissions table for the accounts you select.
Settings > Members - the workspace members list.
Impersonators - the impersonator profiles you select.
On the comments cleaner, chat moderation and DM protection pages, scroll to the bottom of the Settings tab to find the Export data to Excel section and its Export button. On the other pages, the Export button sits next to the search and filters.
⚠️ Note: Viewers do not see the Settings tab, so they cannot export moderation data.
Exporting Moderation Data
Use these steps to export from the comments cleaner, chat moderation or DM protection.
Step 1: Open the Export Window
Open the Settings tab of the feature you want to export, scroll to Export data to Excel, and click Export.
Step 2: Select Accounts
Under Select accounts, All accounts is selected by default. Open the list to search for an account and select or clear individual accounts. The list shows only the accounts you have access to, so members with access to some accounts can only export those accounts.
Step 3: Choose Whether to Include Every Item
By default, the file contains only the moderation actions taken. To also get a list of every item Spikerz received in the date range, including items no action was taken on, select the checkbox:
Include comments with no actions taken - on the comments cleaner.
Include live chat messages with no actions taken - on chat moderation.
Include direct messages with no actions taken - on DM protection.
Step 4: Set the Date Range
Under Date range, pick a Start and an End date. Both are required, future dates cannot be selected, and the end date cannot be earlier than the start date.
⚠️ Timestamps in the file are in UTC. The date range also covers full days in UTC, so activity late in the evening or early in the morning in your time zone may fall on the next or previous day.
Step 5: Click Export
Click Export. The button stays disabled until at least one account and both dates are selected.
Spikerz confirms that your export will download shortly and that a copy will also be emailed to you. See Receiving Your File below.
What's in the File
A moderation export contains these sheets:
Moderation Actions
Every moderation action taken on the feature during the date range, with the action, who took it and when, the comment or message it was taken on, the commenter, the alert type and sentiment, the assignee, tags, and the account it belongs to.
Comments, Live Chat or Messages
Added only when you select the include checkbox. It lists every comment, live chat message or direct message received during the date range, whether or not an action was taken, with its status, moderation action and trigger, the actions taken, the assignee, tags, and a link to the item.
Comments Abuse Statistics
Comments cleaner exports only. The number of positive, neutral, negative and total comments for each account.
If a sheet has more rows than Excel allows in a single sheet, the rest continues in a second sheet with (2) added to its name, for example Comments (2).
Exporting from Other Pages
The same Export data to Excel window is used on other pages, with only the options that apply there.
Activity log
Select the accounts and a date range, then click Export. The filters and search you have set on the page also apply, so filter the page first to export only what you need. The file is prepared and delivered the same way as a moderation export.
Asset permissions
Select the accounts, then click Export. The filters on the page also apply. There is no date range, and the file downloads straight away.
Settings > Members
Click Export, then Export again in the window. The file contains the members currently shown by the page filters, with their role, status, assets and collections, and it downloads straight away.
Impersonators
Select the profiles you want, click the three dots in the action bar at the bottom of the page, and choose Export selected. The file downloads straight away.
Asset permissions, Members and Impersonators exports now download as Excel files (.xlsx) instead of CSV.
Receiving Your File
Moderation and Activity log exports are prepared in the background, so large exports do not slow you down:
In Spikerz - if you stay on the page, the file downloads automatically as soon as it is ready.
By email - a copy is always emailed to you, with the subject "Your Spikerz export is ready" (or "Your Spikerz activity log export is ready"). Click Download a copy to get the Excel file.
⚠️ The download link in the email expires after 12 hours. If it has expired, run the export again.
Tips & Best Practices
Export only the accounts and dates you need. Shorter ranges are faster to prepare and easier to work with.
Select the include checkbox when you need a full record of everything received, not only what was moderated.
Remember that timestamps are in UTC when comparing the file with what you see in Spikerz.
On the Activity log, Asset permissions and Members pages, set your filters before exporting.
Download the file from the email promptly, since the link expires after 12 hours.
